This annual event is one of the most highly anticipated family activities on Dauphin Island, timed perfectly to be a great Father’s Day gift: a day of fishing and boating with the whole family.
The Mystic Stripers Annual Fishing Tournament
This year is the 16th annual Mystic Striper’s Fishing Rodeo. It is the biggest single-day saltwater fishing tournament on the Gulf Coast, both in- and offshore.
It is a family day of fun, with an exciting fishing tournament in both adult and kids’ categories and a variety of family activities. Rodeo categories including tripletail, redfish, flounder, cobia, sheepshead, bonita, Jack Crevalle, speckled trout, Spanish Mackerel, and several others – 15 in total.
The rodeo costs $25 per person, and attendees are automatically entered in a raffle. The kids’ tournament costs $10 per angler. Cash prizes will be drawn from a raffle for all ticket holders – fish or no fish.
For those that are fishing, the weigh station closes at 5 p.m. and the awards presentation starts at 6:05 p.m. There will be both first, second, third place and winner-takes-all categories. The Master Angler will receive the grand prize of $500.
The rodeo is hosted by The Mystic Stripers Society, one of Mobile’s largest organizations with more than 600 members. The Mystic Stripers pride themselves on multigenerational activities and family fun. Many generations of fathers, sons and grandfathers have participated in the rodeo.
Each category is sponsored by a different local business. A percentage of the proceeds from the event will go to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

About the Dauphin Island Marina
