Where and When is Family Movie Night?
Family Movie Night takes place every Thursday and Friday during the summer, starting at dusk or roughly 7:45 p.m. To experience this event, you’ll need to head to Dauphin Island’s West End Beach. This stretch of Dauphin Island beach is (you guessed it!) at the western tip of Dauphin Island; you’ll find plenty of parking and tons of room to settle in for the film. If you’re using your GPS to get here, the address to enter is 3000 Bienville Boulevard.
During this event, families are welcome to bring their beach chairs, blankets, and bug spray. The Sugar Shack will have all the classic movie concessions you crave, including fresh popcorn, hot dogs and chili dogs, nachos, snow cones, and many other selections! West End Beach does ask that all visitors refrain from bringing pets, glass bottles, or grills.
What Movies Are They Showing?
Seeing a movie with your family right on the beach is easily one of the best of all the best Dauphin Island things to do. Thankfully, this event gives you and your crew plenty of opportunities to see all kinds of fantastic movies! Every night, they show a different family-friendly movie, so you can even come twice in the same week to see two different films.
Some nights, they’ll play your favorite Disney movies, including Frozen and Moana, while other nights, popular selections like Shrek, Madagascar, and Despicable Me will be shown. Parents will appreciate some of the older classic kids’ movies, including Free Willy, Matilda, and The Goonies. A quick Internet search will give you a complete list of all the movies that will be played throughout the summer! Since there are so many different selections happening throughout the season, there’s a good chance they’ll be playing something you and your family haven’t seen before.
