Solar Waves

Your Gulf-front getaway awaits at Solar Waves, a beautiful six-bedroom home located in the gated community of DeSoto Landing on Dauphin Island. With the Gulf just steps away, a private boardwalk leading directly to the beach, and a newly widened beach area in front of the home, there is plenty of room to soak up the sun, play in the sand, and enjoy the laid-back pace of island life. Guests also have access to the community swimming pool and tennis court. Bring your own tennis equipment.

One of the most unique features of Solar Waves is its solar-powered energy system with three Tesla Powerwall backup batteries. What does that mean for you? If the power goes out on the island, the home can continue operating without guests needing to flip a switch or manually activate anything. The refrigerator can keep running, the lights can stay on, and the air conditioning can continue to operate.

During an extended power outage, guests are encouraged to conserve energy, as using less electricity will help the batteries last longer, particularly overnight.

With six bedrooms, two living spaces, two dining areas, and extensive indoor and outdoor living space, Solar Waves is designed for large families and groups who want to vacation together while still having room to spread out.

Sleeping accommodations include two king beds, four queen beds, two full beds, and four twin beds in bunk rooms.

The upstairs king primary suite offers beautiful Gulf views, a jetted bathtub, and a private balcony with a hot tub. Please rinse off all sand before using the jetted tub or hot tub. Food and glass containers are not permitted in the hot tub.

The two living spaces offer flexibility for larger groups. Interior double doors can be closed when you want some quiet time away from the crowd or opened to create an easy flow when everyone wants to gather together. Smart TVs are provided in every bedroom and living area.

The spacious kitchen is stocked with everything you need to prepare meals during your stay, including cookware, baking dishes, large boiling pots, mixing bowls, measuring cups and spoons, colanders, a crockpot, blender, mixer, toaster, toaster oven, Rubbermaid food storage containers, a regular drip coffee maker, and kids' dishes and utensils.

All bed linens, bath towels, washcloths, and kitchen towels are provided, along with 12 beach towels. Each bathroom includes hand soap and shower gel, and an iron and ironing board are also provided.

With two sets of washers and dryers, keeping up with laundry is easy, especially after days spent at the beach.

Starter supplies include laundry and dishwasher pods, toilet paper, paper towels, dish soap, and trash bags. Additional supplies should be brought for longer stays.

The spacious Gulf-facing deck features both covered and open areas, comfortable outdoor furniture, and a large dining table. A private boardwalk leads directly to the beach, making it easy to head down for a morning walk, spend the afternoon in the sand, or catch a beautiful Gulf sunset.

A portable cooler on wheels is available for beach trips, and baby gates are provided at the deck stair opening and interior stairs.

Underneath the home, you'll find shaded hammocks and a kids' playground set up in the sand. The concrete area underneath the home is also a great place for sidewalk chalk, roller skating, skateboarding, or outdoor games. Guests may bring their own cornhole or other games to enjoy in this space.

Guests will also find a beach wagon, beach chairs, beach umbrellas, beach toys, sand toys, crab nets, and bicycles available for use during their stay.

A charcoal grill is available for cookouts. Bring your own charcoal.

New garage doors were added in 2026, providing additional privacy and functionality for the covered area underneath the home. One garage area is reserved for the owner's use, while the other is available for guests.

Solar Waves is a wonderful option for large families, groups of friends, or corporate gatherings looking for a place where everyone can stay together while still having plenty of space to spread out. Enjoy coffee overlooking the Gulf in the morning, spend the afternoon at the beach or community pool, and gather together for dinner on the spacious deck in the evening.

With six bedrooms, multiple living areas, extensive outdoor space, community amenities, and the beach right outside, Solar Waves has everything you need for a memorable Dauphin Island getaway.

A Few Things to Know Before Your Stay:

DeSoto Landing requires a 7-night minimum stay. Stays may begin or end on any day of the week, with the exception of Saturday. Monday-to-Monday, Wednesday-to-Wednesday, and other flexible 7-night stays are welcome during the off season. During the summer season, Friday-to-Friday or Sunday-to-Sunday stays are required.

DeSoto Landing community rules allow a maximum of 12 occupants at the property at any time, regardless of age. This means 12 total people, not 12 adults plus children. A maximum of 6 vehicles is allowed at this property.

Campers, RVs, boats, and trailers may not be parked on the property. Golf carts must be stored underneath the home in the covered area and may not be parked in the driveway.

No smoking, candles, or pets are permitted. Damages resulting from violations of these policies may be charged to the guest.

Outdoor security cameras are located on the property for security purposes. There are no cameras inside the home.

High-speed internet is provided as a courtesy and generally offers a strong connection, although service can occasionally be affected by island-wide conditions or outages. No refunds are provided for internet outages or slowdowns. If reliable internet access is essential during your stay, we recommend bringing a personal hotspot.
