July 4th Events and Fireworks on Dauphin Island

Dauphin Island is a relaxing and quaint vacation destination on the very edge of Alabama. It holds an impressive local history and attracts many visitors each year to its pristine, untapped beaches and coastal attractions.

One holiday that draws an extra big crowd to Dauphin Island vacation rental homes is the Fourth of July.

Few things go better together than the beach and fireworks. The city celebrates the holiday in style, by embracing oceanfront living with the patriotic energy of the Fourth of July.

The Impressive Dauphin Island Fireworks Show

The Fourth of July fireworks on Dauphin Island are relaxing and impressive – the perfect destination to spend this holiday weekend to get away from it all for a bit. Grab a blanket, some snacks and drinks, and your sweetheart and stake out a spot in the sand for the show.

While there are better and worse viewing spots, you can see the fireworks from nearly anywhere along the island’s shore in the general vicinity. If you head to the very fringes of the island, you may have a hard time seeing the spectacle.

But as long as you are by the water within viewing distance, you should have little problem hearing the explosions and seeing the colors zooming across the sky.

Location & Parking

The fireworks show is centered around the public beach near Dauphin Island Elementary School.

Parking is allowed on some parts of the beach with an environmental fee of $5. Walk-ins are allowed for $2. The island has about five different designated parking lot areas for beach access. One is on the far left side of the island at West End Beach.

The four main parking areas you are likely to utilize for the Fourth of July are in the main part of the island’s town center. A map can be found on the town website.

Trolley service will be available for the fireworks. Trolley stops will be designated at most parking lots and beach access points. You will also be able to pick up a trolley stop near Dauphin Island vacation rental homes.

Contact us for rental details and the closest trolley pick-up point. It is highly recommended that you take advantage of the trolley service and leave the car at home. Even though it’s a quiet island, parking and traffic can be a headache during holidays.

Other Events Around the Fourth of July

Though the fireworks show is the biggest Dauphin Island event for the holiday, it is not the only one.

On July 3, older kids and parents alike can bring a chair or blanket for a free family movie showing of Jaws on West End Beach.

For perhaps a less visceral and more family-friendly screening, check out Frozen on July 5. If you plan to stay an extra few days and into the weekend, check out Zootopia on July 6. The movie showings act as nice additional family-friendly activities for the week.

All films on West End Beach begin at 8 p.m.
