Dauphin Island Fall Events

3rd Annual Halloween Bike Ride

The Haunted Bike Ride was a slam-dunk event in past years, and it is returning again in 2019! The event typically runs along many top Dauphin Island attractions, including a gleeful ride by Fort Gaines, the weird Goat Trees, Key Street Cemetery and Indian Shell Mound Park. While the ride is Adults Only (18+), children are welcome to come watch the ride and enjoy free candy. Guests venture by bike along the island, dressed in their favorite Halloween costume. Be sure to wear something you can bike in!

The ride will take place on Friday, October 25. Riders will meet at Green Park by 5:15pm with the ride starting at 6:15pm. There will be an after-party and awards ceremony at Dority’s with live music from The Redhouse Band. Entry Fee is $10 per person. Trick or Treat in Green Park

Enjoy the perfect picnic ambiance while at Green Park on Dauphin Island. With some thick foliage, big and old trees, and a fun play area, Green Park could not be the better backdrop for the season. Join the trick or treat on Dauphin Island festivities on Oct 31st and grab candy, meet locals, and soak in the spirited fall energy. The event is free.

The park is located at 301 Lemoyne Drive, Dauphin Island, Alabama 36528. It begins at 5:30 p.m. on Halloween, Oct 31st.

Dauphin Island Art Trail

Join us on Dauphin Island for the October Art Trail on Saturday, Oct. 12 from 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. With more than 40 artists combining their unique works of art, this free event includes 11 locations across the island to view and buy one-of-a-kind-pieces and win awesome prizes!

Boo at Bellingrath

The Bellingrath Gardens is known for its fanciful elegance and alluring décor. It is a wedding venue staple and one of the most treasured attractions near Dauphin Island. But for October 26th, the gardens will replace the tender lights and whimsical Southern aesthetics for something a bit on the spookier side.

The Boo at Bellingrath is a fun celebration of the Halloween season. The gardens will become decorated with pumpkins, mummies, and other holiday-filled designs. Kids can enjoy looking at the big fall inflatables while they scour the grounds on the lookout for treats and candy.

Local food trucks will be placed at the entrance to the grounds. The event is Saturday, Oct 26th, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Musical entertainment will be at the Live Oak Plaza. Magic performances from Dr. Gee will be at Noon and 1 p.m. with balloon animals in between. Entrance is $14 for adults and $8 for ages 12 and under (4 and younger are free).

Other Fall Bellingrath Events

Wednesday, December 4th-Friday, December 6th: “Elf Jr.” at The Steeple on St. Francis

Enjoy an outdoor performance of the popular holiday film. The show will begin at 7:30 p.m. each night at The Steeple. “Elf Jr.” is presented by The PACT, a new performing arts center in Mobile. Tickets will be available online or at the door on show nights while supplies lasts.

November: Fall Outdoor Cascading Chrysanthemums

Feast your eyes on the nation’s largest outdoor chrysanthemum display. The show features hundreds of four-foot-long cascades of flowers, hung on balconies and bridges throughout the Gardens, along with traditional bedding mums in the dazzling fall colors of lavender, orange, yellow and white. November 29-December 31, 2019: Magic Christmas in Lights, 5 to 9 p.m. nightly

It’s one of the nation’s best holiday light shows, and it’s designed and made right here at Bellingrath! Stroll through the Gardens at night at the 23rd season of Magic Christmas in Lights, a dazzling nighttime display with more than 1,100 set pieces, 3 million lights and 15 scenes, set out in a walking tour throughout the 65-acre Garden estate. Hours are 5 to 9 p.m. nightly through Dec. 31. The event will be closed on December 25th. For details please visit bellingrath.org or call 251-973-2217.

Gulf Seafood Gala

This simple and tasty event combines seafood with local gulf side culture in perhaps the finest of ways. Indulge in plentiful local seafood while immersing yourself in the Dauphin arts community. View and bid on local art in the silent auction and enjoy the live local entertainment with some crab cakes and delicious fish in hand. Tickets are $50 per person and can be purchased at the Dauphin Island Gallery (918A Bienville Boulevard) or online at www.dauphinislandarts.org.

The event is October 26th from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Proceeds go to the Dauphin Island Heritage and Arts Council. It is located at the Isle Dauphine Club, 100 Orleans Drive, Dauphin Island, AL 36528.

Tri the Gulf Triathlon

The Mobile Bar Foundation is hosting the third annual Tri the Gulf Triathlon. It is one of the area’s biggest and boldest sprints. Swim 600 yards across the gulf, bike 16.7 miles over the island, and run 3.25 miles through the open grasses. This ambitious run is designed to be safe and exciting, through the use of a cable tow in the water and alternative routes in case of weather.

The run is limited to 350 participants and includes special offerings and inclusion for first-time triathlon runners.

The triathlon starts bright and early. Strive to get on out there at 6 a.m. on Oct 19th and test what you are capable of, think big, and reach for new heights. The run is expected to begin around 7:30 a.m.

“Gears and Beers” Biking to Island

Join hundreds of riders from all over the country for the 5th Annual Gears and Beers ride on Saturday, November 9th from 11am to 3pm. Rides are offered in four different skill levels, ranging from the 8 mile Beignet Buster casual ride to the Bayou 100.

The event serves as the primary fundraiser for the volunteer operated, non-profit Delta Bike Project who work to encourage to the access and use of bicycling in Mobile County. Registration closes on October 31st and registration fees fall between $25-$60.
