* Status of the Oil Spill
o Small isolated patches of tar balls continued to show up on Dauphin Island the past few days.
o A new website with the latest on the spill and localized information has been created by BP. Go to www.alabamagulfresponse.com for details. BP representative has explained that this is still in the early stages and will continue to improve.

* Hazmat Training
o Individuals interested in registering for Hazmat Training should email horizonresponse@pecpremier.com. If needed, you will be contacted to set up a training class. For more information on the training schedule, visit www.pecpremier.com.

* Updated Fishing/Shrimping Closure
o NOAA has announced an updated fisheries closure area due to the possibility of oil in the loop current and sub-surface oiling.

* Vessels of Opportunity Training
o The BP Vessels of Opportunity program is looking for boats 50 feet in length or larger ONLY. If you are already signed up for the program, you DO NOT need to reapply. This will only apply to new enrollees with vessels that are ONLY 50 feet or longer in length. If this applies to you, please call 1-866-279-7983 (toll-free).

* Small Business Administration (SBA)
o The SBA has urged all small businesses and nonprofits to visit their local SBA Recovery Center. The address is listed under the information sites and links section below.

* Re-entry Passes, Hurricane Season Began June 1st
o With all of the focus on the oil spill, the Town would like to remind residents to make sure their re-entry passes are up to date. You can obtain or renew your re-entry pass at Town Hall between the hours of 7:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Monday – Thursday, closed Friday – Sunday. You will need to bring your identification and either your expired pass or proof of ownership or residency (e.g., a utility bill, deed, or lease agreement). If you have any questions, please call Town Hall at 251-861-5525.
