* CREDENTIALING CENTERS
o The Alabama Department of Public Safety wants to ensure contractors working in Alabama responding to the Deep Water Response Oil Spill have the proper credentials. DPS in conjunction with the Alabama National Guard have established credentialing centers, including one on Dauphin Island. The Alabama Department of Environmental Management and BP representatives are aware of this process and are notifying contractors. Residents, guests, and property owners do not need to get credentials. Attached, you will find the official statement on this process.
o PLEASE NOTE: OFFICIALS INVOLVED WITH THIS PROGRAM HAVE REASSURED THE TOWN THAT THEY DO NOT EXPECT TO CLOSE DOWN ACCESS TO THE ISLAND FOR RESIDENTS, PROPERTY OWNERS, OR ANY OTHER VISITORS.



* RE-ENTRY PASSES, HURRICANE SEASON BEGINS JUNE 1st:
o With all of the focus on the oil spill, the Town would like to remind residents to make sure their re-entry passes are up to date. You can obtain or renew your re-entry pass at Town Hall between the hours of 7:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Monday – Thursday, closed Friday – Sunday. You will need to bring your identification and either your expired pass or proof of ownership or residency (e.g., a utility bill, deed, or lease agreement). If you have any questions, please call Town Hall at 251-861-5525.



* Status of the Oil Spill
o Below the information sites and numbers, you will find a trajectory as of May 19 for the oil spill. The current NOAA maps suggest no major oil impact expected through Saturday, May 22 at 6:00 p.m.
