Tornado Victims Donation Drive

The communities of Dauphin Island and Bayou La Batre are joining forces to raise donations in support of the many families who were affected by last week’s tornados in the northern part of the state and throughout the region.

Having been through catastrophes in the past, the residents of South Mobile County understand hardship and know how important the help, brotherly love, and support of volunteers, neighbors and kindhearted strangers is to the recovery process.

“We’re not turning down any donation, but ask that people bring items such as, non-perishable food goods, bottled water, personal hygiene products, diapers, baby wipes, baby food, baby formula, children’s toys, flashlights, pots and pans, and items for seniors,” stated Pam Gardner with Southern Rose Florist & Gifts in Bayou La Batre. “We’ve all been through a lot and know how much it means to see someone extend a helping hand. Our hearts go out to the victims from these horrible tornados.”

All donations will be coordinated through the Dauphin Island Elementary School and delivered with cooperation from the Alabama Department of Homeland Security to families in need.
