Dear Dauphin Island Property Owners,

A new discussion forum has been created which will give you an opportunity to participate more with the Dauphin Island Property Owners Association (DIPOA).

We know that many of you cannot attend the monthly DIPOA meetings to join in on discussions of the issues. Some of you live off-island, and even those of you who live full-time on the island may have work or other conflicts on meeting nights.

This forum will give you a way to make your voice heard. The forum is simple to use. And it’s free! There is no fee to join or maintain membership.

Note that this forum is a non-binding venue. It is for informal discussion only. Do not assume that any information posted on the forum is an official position statement of the DIPOA. All DIPOA official information, position statements and the precise wording of proposals are distributed in one or more of the following venues:

The discussion forum merely allows all property owners to freely discuss DIPOA issues, debate proposals, present ideas, and offer suggestions, compliments and constructive criticism.

Rules of the forum, and instructions on how to join, are listed below.

Since this forum is for Dauphin Island property owners only (and their assigns), we require a property ownership verification process before you may join. This will help to prevent the forum from being plagued with spam, and will keep the discussions limited only to those who have a vested interest in the island as property owners.

If you received this email directly from forum@dipoa.org, then your email address is already on file in the member list with the DIPOA, and you may join at any time.

When the forum moderators receive a join request from an email already on file, they will approve your account and you will be able to start reading and/or posting on the forum. You will receive a notice when your account has been approved.

If we have an email address for you but no other information to go with it, we may contact you prior to approving your registration on the forum so that we can connect your email address with your name and other contact details. Part of this exercise will be to help bring the property owner / DIPOA member list up to date.

If you receive multiple copies of this email notification, we may have more than one email address on file for you. Let us know which address you prefer the DIPOA to use for general notifications and/or the forum, and which address(es) you would like us to remove from the DIPOA list all together so that you do not get duplicate emails in the future.

If you heard about the forum from another source, or this email was forwarded to you, or if you quick-registered through your social network profile and it uses a different email address, we may not have that email address on file for you. In that case, we will need you to verify who you are before you may join the forum. Simply send an email to the forum email address (forum@dipoa.org) and provide the following information:

Once your property ownership claim has been verified, you will receive a notice from the forum that your request for a forum account has been approved.

Once your Proboards account has been approved, click the “Profile” link in the main menu at the top of any screen if you wish to change any settings on your account.

The forum is not a discussion board for general island issues or other topics. Discussions must be limited to DIPOA issues ONLY. Several categories of topics have already been created on the forum which provide guidelines on the types of conservations allowed. New categories/topics may be added as time goes on.

This forum is for respectful discussion and debate. Forum members violating these rules may see their posts edited or deleted, or (in cases of repeated offenses) see their membership on the forum revoked.
