FRIDAY MEMO
TO: All POA members
FM: Jack L. Gaines, II,
President, DIPOA
In the spirit of keeping everyone up to date on projects and events of interest to Dauphin Island Property Owners, I will try to send you a short and brief memo every Friday. This is the first.
1. Next DIPOA Board of Directors meeting will be Saturday, Feb. 18 at 9:30 am in the Isle Dauphine building. All owners of DI property are invited.
2. The Shrimp Boil and Home cooked Gumbo event scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 18 has been rescheduled to Saturday, March 2. Doors to the Wheel Room will open at 4:00 pm and stay open until all the food is gone. $12 per person "All You Can Eat! Call for reservations 861-2433, Cash bar and DJ with dancing and party music. I hope the change in schedule has not been a problem for anyone.
3. We are calling a meeting for all the golf course volunteers for Thursday evening, Feb. 16 in the Club house. 6:00 pm.. We will discuss the assignments and work schedules and make adjustments where needed. We should be out in an hour.
4. I need to tell all DIPOA members, the golf course volunteers are doing an outstanding job. The golf course is improving by leaps and bounds. The men and women working every day on "our golf course" are really looking like the cavalry riding their golf carts, greens mowers, tractors, and other equipment -- 'saving the day!' Remarks I have heard from local golfers and snowbirds: "the greens are well tended." "Looks better than I have seen it in years!" "The scenery is wonderful and I enjoy playing your course."
5. The Board is encouraging members to run for the four empty Board of Directors seats coming up this spring. For more details check the last newsletter which can be found on the DIPOA web site, http://www.dipoa.com/minutes/index.html -- select the 2012 newsletter. We need individuals who can devote a modest amount of time to maintaining and saving our common properties. There are ups and downs, but a contribution of one's time and talents to our community can be satisfying.
6. Law enforcement has announced the arrest of two of three suspects in the island's west end break-ins. Over $15,000 in stolen electronics and other goods have been recovered and should soon be returned to owners.
